This is accomplished in the System Configuration Editor.

 

 

Miscellaneous Configuration > Directory Structure

 

 

Icons Directory

 

 

Directory_Structure.ICONS_DIR

 

 

Add a Domain level override and set the value to the path to the Icons share on the server.
