Title: Design Mode vs. Visualization Mode
Application: CATIA V5
Release: N/A
Summary: This article describes the difference between Design Mode and Visualization Mode in CATIA V5.
Visualization Mode allows users to load the assembly quickly in the CATIA session. Visualization Mode only accesses the graphic representation of the models and as a result users will experience faster retrieval time. Visualization can only be used when the Cache Activation setting is applied. The limitation of Visualization Mode is that models cannot be edited. In order to edit a model, the model has to be in Design Mode.
Double clicking on a model that is in Visualization Mode will convert the model to Design Mode. Once the model is in Design Mode, a user is able to make the necessary changes to the model.
