Title: Saving a Rule in a Catalog

Application: CATIA V5

Release: N/A

Summary: This article describes how to save a Knowledgeware Rule that has been created in CATIA to a Catalog.

A Catalog is a good way to make Rules available for reuse by other CATIA users. The Catalog Browser is used to locate the catalog that contains the Rule and the user will then provide the inputs required to instantiate the Rule in their part. No special license is required to reuse Rules.

Perform these steps to add a Rule to a catalog:

1) Open the part that contains the Rule
2) Open the catalog
3) Activate or add a Family to the catalog
4) Select Add Component
5) Select External Feature
6) Navigate to the part with the Rule and select the Rule in the tree
7) Save the catalog

The catalog will keep a document link to the original file with the Rule and will access the original file anytime the catalog is referenced.
