How do you update the license for DRL Tools?

The license for DRL Tools is stored in the database and it works by the database name and ID and not by the name of the server.

So even if you move your database and Foundation to a new server you won’t need to get a new DRL Tools license unless you change the name of the database or ID in SMARTEAM.

The only other time you will need to get a new license is when your existing one expires.

If you need to obtain a new DRL Tools license then you will need to request a new license from Design Rule.

There is a utility provided with DRL Tools in order to accomplish this.

It exists in the <SMARTEAM>\Bin\DRLTools directory and it’s called: DRLToolsStandard.LicensingUtility.exe

When you run it you have a button at the bottom called Request License.

You click that and fill it out and select all the options and then it will generate the .xml file and then you send it to the e-mail at the top (drltools@designrule.co.uk).

Once you get the new license then you enroll it with the DRLToolsStandard.LicensingUtility.exe utility.
