Detailed
Bounding Box Procedure with DMU
1. In DMU
select File>Open, then browse to the material_purchasing.catproduct
2. Notice when it opens there
are two sketches originating at the 0,0,0 of the product. (the idea will
be to get those sketch to enclose the part(s) in question)
3. Right click on the product
in tree (at the very top of the tree) and select Component>Insert
Existing Component
4. Then Browse to whatever
CATProduct or CATpart that you desire to quote material size for.
5. Next you will use the all
the tools at your disposal to locate the part close to the inside corner of the
0,0,0 of the original product. Snap, Compass, translate, etc. The top,
side, etc views will help with this. This will take some practice to
understand how DMU locates the parts. This step is necessary because the
OEMS locate their parts in Aircraft coordinates and you must square up the part
in an interactive way to figure out the stock size.
6. Now double click on the
sketch.1 in the tree under Bounding_box.catpart
7. Adjust the two White lines
to bound the part. Note the dimensions in parenthesis. These are the X
and Y direction sizes.
a.
b. Exit this area by clicking
exit workbench
8. Now Double click on
Sketch.2
9. And select last remaining
white line and move it to bound the part. Note the dimension in
Parenthesis.
This
is the last remaining size in the Z direction.
